Block design

Definition: A block design is a type of experimental paradigm in which trials belonging to the same experimental condition are arranged in blocks (i.e., grouped together), with blocks usually separated by a rest period. The original purpose of a block design is to increase the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and to reduce the effects of variability within individual trials.
