Finger tapping
Definition: Finger tapping refers to a task where participants are instructed to rhythmically tap their fingers in a controlled manner. In a finger-tapping task, participants are instructed to touch their thumb with each of the other fingers of the same hand, sequentially. It can also refer to periodically tapping on a surface, commonly using the forefinger. Finger tapping can be self-paced or externally paced. Finger tapping is generally used to measure motor activity in order to test whether the fNIRS system records proper hemodynamic response or not or to locate the motor cortex.
