Partial volume effect
Definition: The partial volume effect can be defined as the loss of contrast in small objects or regions due to the limited resolution of the imaging system. Thus, it refers to the underestimation of the concentration changes of hemoglobin due to the fact that they occur in small focal regions rather than in the entire sampling region.
