Total hemoglobin

Definition: Total hemoglobin concentration ([tHb]) is defined as the sum of oxygenated and deoxygenated hemoglobin concentration [O2Hb] + [HHb]; sometimes referred as [HbT] or [HbTot]. [tHb] is measured only by frequency domain multidistance NIRS and Time-domain NIRS. Continuous wave instrumentations can measure total hemoglobin concentration changes (\delta[tHb]) defined as the sum of oxygenated and deoxygenated hemoglobin concentration changes \delta[O2Hb] + \delta[HHb]; sometimes referred as \delta[HbT] or \delta[HbTot].
